Our Knurling Finish Services
We provide precision diamond/straight knurling with pitch ranges 0.5-2.5mm (20-60 TPI) for stainless steel, aluminum, and brass components. Our CNC-controlled process achieves ±0.05mm pattern consistency for enhanced grip and aesthetic appeal.
What is Knurling?
A cold-forming process that creates raised diamond or linear patterns by displacing (not removing) material using:
1. Hardened steel rollers with mirror-image patterns
2. Controlled pressure (200-800N/mm²)
3. Dual-roller synchronization for pattern alignment
Key characteristics:
Pattern types: Diamond (crosshatch), straight, or convex
Depth control: 0.1-0.4mm for functional/textured surfaces
Surface hardness increase: 10-15% through work hardening

Knurling Advantages
- Ergonomic Improvement - 300% friction increase vs smooth surfaces (ASTM D1894)
- Cost Efficiency - No material waste vs machining/texturing alternatives
- Durability - Withstands 50,000+ wear cycles (ISO 9352)
- Material Flexibility - Processes hardened steels up to 45HRC
- Aesthetic Versatility - Customizable pattern densities and angles
Notes
- Minimum shaft diameter: 6mm for diamond knurl, 10mm for straight
- Wall thickness requirement: ≥1.5mm for steel, ≥2mm for aluminum
- Not recommended for: Thin-walled tubing (<1mm), brittle materials
Knurling Applications
- Automotive: Shift knobs, control dials, pedal surfaces
- Industrial: Valve handwheels, tool handles, adjustment screws
- Medical: Surgical instrument grips, prosthetic components
- Consumer: Camera lens barrels, flashlight bodies, premium pens
- Aerospace: Cockpit control knobs, maintenance tool interfaces
