Our Passivation Finish Services
Deliver ASTM A967-compliant chemical treatments for stainless steel (300/400 series), aluminum, and titanium alloys. Our automated immersion system achieves complete oxide layer removal with ≤0.00001g/cm² iron contamination (per AMS 2700), enhancing corrosion resistance by 300-500%.
What is Passivation Finish?
A post-fabrication chemical process that:
1.Removes free iron particles (0.5-3μm depth)
2.Forms chromium-rich oxide layer (1-5nm thickness)
3.Restores inherent corrosion resistance
Key process parameters:
Nitric acid (20-50%) or citric acid (4-10%) solutions
Temperature range: 20-70°C
Immersion time: 20-120 minutes

Passivation Advantages
- Corrosion Protection - Extends salt spray resistance to 1000+ hours
- Cost Efficiency - 80% cheaper than electroplating alternatives
- Material Integrity - No dimensional changes (≤0.0001" material loss)
- Hygienic Surface - Meets FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food contact
- Aesthetic Preservation - Maintains base metal appearance
Notes
- Pre-treatment: Mandatory degreasing & pickling
- Verification: Copper sulfate test (ASTM A380)
- Not effective for: Carbon steel, plated surfaces
Passivation Applications
- Medical: Surgical instruments, implantable devices
- Food Processing: Mixing tanks, conveyor systems
- Aerospace: Engine components, fasteners
- Semiconductor: Wafer handling equipment
- Marine: Pump housings, valve bodies
